St. Louis Synergy Gives Back to Our Community
Serving our community is one of the main pillars of the St. Louis Synergy synchronized figure skating program. Teams work together throughout the year to support and strengthen neighborhoods.
Last month, skaters partnered with the Red Cross’s Holiday Mail for Heroes project to create over 100 handmade greeting cards for St. Louis area U.S. Veterans. We want to show how much we appreciate our local heroes and their service to our country. Synergy teams also helped collect over 3300 pounds of food to be donated to Operation Food Search.
As part of a pep rally prior to our teams traveling to Portland for sectionals, we are encouraging some friendly team competition off the ice that will benefit our community. Synergy teams will compete to see who can contribute the most rolls of toilet paper that will be donated to Lydia’s House; a local woman’s shelter. To ramp up the fun and excitement, Synchro coaches will wear a silly skating dress to run the winning team’s next practice. We want our Synergy skaters to know that service is not only worthwhile, but it is a lot of FUN too!
Introduction to Synchro
St Louis Synchro skaters welcomed over twenty new girls to the sport of synchronized skating last month. Five of the teams; Juvenile, Pre-juvenile, Preliminary, Beginner and Formation teams showcased synchronized elements like moving circles, intersections and stroking. Teams cheered for each other as they performed their basic and advance moves.
Skaters interested in learning more about synchronized skating are encouraged to enroll in the new Webster Learn to Skate class—Intro to Synchro Skills. Classes will run Saturday mornings at 10:30 and focus on fundamentals and fun. For registration, call Webster recreation center at 314-963-5621
SKATE GREAT
GOOD LUCK--to our St. Louis Synergy Teams as they head north this month to compete in Wisconsin!
Most Important Meal of the Day
St Louis Synergy skaters know BREAKFAST is the most important meal of the day as many skaters are up as early as 6:00 a.m. to begin their day on the ice. St Louis Synergy Dad Club cooked up a healthy and delicious breakfast for all teams last month. Thanks to all for donating and hosting a fun and tasty morning!
Join us for the next team breakfast, January 23rd!
